Pokhara/Lhasa: Nepal is making significant strides in both tourism promotion and trade facilitation, with the launch of the Tri-Nation Tourism Expo (NICE) in Pokhara and a high-level trade discussion between Nepal and China in Lhasa.
Tourism Expo to Boost Nepal’s Global Presence
Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey inaugurated the first-ever Nepal India China Expo (NICE) in Pokhara on Monday, emphasizing its role in positioning Nepal as a key destination in the global tourism market.
Organized by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) in collaboration with PATA Nepal Chapter and Pokhara Tourism Council, the three-day expo has drawn over 600 participants, including 80 international buyers, 70 sellers, and 75 exhibitors.
NTB CEO Dipak Raj Joshi highlighted the expo as a significant milestone for Nepal’s tourism industry, fostering business networking, investment opportunities, and the exchange of ideas between Nepal, India, and China.
Nepal and China Strengthen Trade Relations
Meanwhile, in Lhasa, a meeting between Director General of the Commerce Department of Xinjiang Autonomous Region, Chen Jung, and Nepal’s Consul General in Lhasa, Laxmi Prasad Niraula, focused on enhancing bilateral trade and transit.
Both sides agreed to:
✅ Facilitate the export of Nepali agricultural products to China
✅ Improve border checkpoint infrastructure
✅ Increase participation in trade fairs and festivals
✅ Strengthen economic coordination for mutual growth
Director General Chen Jung reaffirmed China’s commitment to supporting Nepal’s trade and development initiatives, while Consul General Niraula expressed gratitude for China’s continuous support.
